Distinctive Unit Insignia

Distinctive Unit Insignia

Description
A silver metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a red cone of a volcano charged with a silver Philippine sun beneath a blue trefoil with three silver stars.  All above a silver scroll, the ends terminating at the corners of the trefoil bearing the inscription READY IN TIME in blue letters.

Symbolism
Scarlet and white are the colors used for Engineers.  The trefoil and three stars are symbolic of operational control of subordinate elements located in the states of Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas.  The volcano, a physical feature of Luzon and the representation of the Philippine sun symbolizes the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation earned in that area during World War II.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 15 July 1969.
